On Friday 13th March the Suffolk One Big Band performed at Snape Maltings Concert Hall as part of the week-long Celebration of Schools’ Music. The Big Band closed the evening concert and performed a set of three numbers to an appreciative audience in what is an amazing venue to perform in. Our students were a real inspiration to many of the primary school students that were also performing that evening and gave them a glimpse of what they could achieve in future years. The celebration featured a diverse mixture of jazz, rock, choirs and orchestras, with each night culminating in performances from all the pupils, conducted by Ken Burton, musical director of the London Adventist Choir and a regular guest on BBC Songs of Praise.
The Big Band’s next concert is at the Rotary Club’s Musicians Showcase at Ipswich High School for Girls on Thursday 19th March starting at 7.30pm. The concert features many local schools around the area. Tickets will be available on the door priced at £7.50 including programme.
