One Sixth Form College hosted a memorial event for a former student who passed away last year.

The occasion was created to celebrate the life of Mason Fountain from Ipswich who sadly passed away last year at the age of 18.

His friend and current student Harrison Mayhew-Kemp, 19, from Ardleigh in Essex is on a sport level two course at the sixth form in Ipswich and he oversaw activities on the day.

They (activities) included table cricket and table tennis - and £60.00 was raised for Zest, the young adult transition arm of St Elizabeth Hospice.

Mason was a huge sports fan and a massive Ipswich Town supporter and ace striker George Hirst came along to represent the club during proceedings. (The club also marked Mason’s passing by holding a minute’s applause during the 18th minute of the Leeds United game last year).

In terms of his role at this event, Harrison said: “This event is in memory of our dear friend Mason who sadly passed away, way too young. We wanted to create a fun sport filled day for him. I miss him but I believe he is here with us - all the time. I’ll never forget him.”

Mason’s sister, Kloie Fountain, 17, from Ipswich was in attendance. Kloie said: “It’s such a lovely atmosphere and everyone is enjoying themselves and that’s what Mason would have wanted. He would’ve been so proud. For Harrison to create an event like this is so lovely.”
