Current cast of new show are inspired by former student who starred in The Voice Australia

One Sixth Form College students ‘won’t step believing’ after being inspired by a former student ahead of a new production of the musical called Rock of Ages (teen edition).

They will be performing the show (Rock of Ages) - that is filled with 80’s Rock anthems - at the Scrivener Drive based sixth form between 15 and 17 November 2023. (Tickets can be purchased here:

The cast have been glued to the internet to see how former One Sixth Form College student Charlie Pittman fared in the recent series of The Voice Australia.

Before his recent stardom, Pittman studied at the Ipswich based educational establishment for two years and starred in productions of Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Rocky Horror Show.

Cast member Saskia Watts, 17 from Rendlesham is on a level three performing arts course. Saskia – who plays Lonny Barnett in Rock of Ages - said: “It’s a nostalgic musical and there will not be a moment where the audience won’t want to sing along.”

In terms of Charlie, Saskia added: “It was so cool to watch him – he was phenomenal - to know he was from this area is amazing – there is so much talent here (in Suffolk).”

Rosy Constanti, 17, from near Woodbridge is on the same course as Saskia. Rosy – who plays Sherrie Christian and has previously performed at the Edinburgh Fringe - said: “Rehearsals have been good. I think people will love it.”

In terms of Charlie Pittman, Rosy added: “It shows people that you can come here (to One Sixth Form College) and do amazing things – that could be us one day. It’s really inspiring.”

Freddie Idehen, 17, from near Felixstowe is also the level three performing arts course. Freddie – who plays Dennis Dupree - said: “It’s a family friendly show and the theme of love runs throughout.”

In terms of Charlie, Freddie added: “Seeing him makes me want to push more and meet him at the top. He was such a good singer and deserved to be in the final.”

The plot of Rock of Ages follows a group of young artists based in LA who are all out to make it big in Hollywood and is full of conflict, arguments and love. This production follows on from One Sixth Form College’s last successful sell out run of SIX.
