WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?
The Level 2 Beauty Therapy course is your first step to becoming a practicing Beauty Therapist. You will also develop knowledge of the skills relating to important areas of study in Beauty Therapy, including health and safety, client care and communication, reception duties, and the promotion of products and services. CAN I TAKE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS?
Whilst students study at Level 2, at ONE, they have the opportunity to extend their qualifications and sign up to the ‘Advance Programme’ and enrol on the Higher Project Level 2 qualification. This qualification provides opportunities for students to take an aspect of their vocational interests and undertake research to produce either a report or an artefact. Students that opt to follow the Advance Programme, in addition to their main Level 2 qualification, will find that it will help them to develop the skills that are required at Level 3 and support them to take their vocational interests further.
We have worked closely with the Eastern Enterprise Hub to design a programme of specialist sessions, including meeting local entrepreneurs, setting up a business and making a good first impression. This will help develop your employment opportunities, perhaps giving you an idea to set up your own business, and will support your progression to our Level 3 courses at One.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed on your practical skills at regular opportunities throughout the course, in which you will be given a grade dependent on your level of achievement. This aspect of the course is a real asset of Beauty Therapy at Suffolk One, as you will be able to finish the course with a Pass, Merit or Distinction depending on the skills you show, and your progression to Level 3 may depend on your success at higher levels. You will also be assessed on your theoretical knowledge with a written exam.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
There are no charges to study on any of our courses. However you will need to purchase a uniform, which costs slightly more than £50, and a Beauty Therapy kit costing around £112. These will be yours to keep and will set you up for a career in Beauty Therapy, enabling you to practice your skills at home. An additional charge of £30 is required for compulsory work experience.
