Iceland Trip 2018

A group of students travelled to Iceland as part of a four day study trip that was designed to help the subject of geography come to life.
The students from One landed in the country's capital city of Reykjavik before experiencing everything from geology to geyser parks via glaciers, volcanoes and waterfalls.
Last year, One A level students went to the VW Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany and next year a trip to the Bay of Naples is being planned. Abigail Lord is a geography teacher at One and feels the value of seeing different parts of the world cannot be under-estimated.
She said, "It's good for young people to experience new things. Lots of our students hadn't flown before and I think they enjoy travelling with their peers.
"This trip covered culture, economics, population, tourism and trade amongst other things. It was also interesting comparing Iceland to what is happening in the UK. They were a really great group to work with."
16 year old Laura Flockhart from Sudbury enjoyed the thermal spring and the landscapes and said, "It's great to visually see things that you hear about in the classroom."
16 year old Sam Girling from Ipswich, said, "It was interesting see how Iceland gets their energy from. For example, they get hot water and turn the steam into electricity."
