Can embedding linguistics into French A-level improve the appeal of MFL to STEM oriented students?

We are working with a number of universities to investigate the impact of integrating more linguistics-based materials into the teaching of MFL, specifically French A-level.

Student numbers in MFL have been declining and there is a need to find new ways to engage students and potentially attract new cohorts who traditionally do not take up the study of a foreign language at Level 3 (e.g. STEM students).
