What does the course involve?
You will study a range of different units over the two year course, with projects directed towards real life scenarios and businesses. There is real potential for this qualification to prepare you for appropriate employment in the sector, and is suitable for those of you who have decided that you wish to enter a specialist area of work.
Entry Requirements
At least 5 9 to 4 grades at GCSE, including GCSE English Language. A Level 2 vocational qualification will be regarded as the equivalent of one of the 5 required 9 to 4 GCSE grades.
GCSE Maths at grade 5 is desirable, but grade 4 will be considered on the basis of the applicant's overall relevant grade profile.
Can I take additional qualifications?
This qualification is equivalent to one A Level and should be taken alongside other Extended Certificates and A Levels. You can discuss the suitable subject combinations at interview.
How will I be assessed?
The BTEC National Extended Certificate course combines academic units and practical experiences. Students will be taught in a group by completing projects and assignments. All topics are formally assessed and graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction, with an overall grade for the qualification awarded. The assessment will take the form of 2 units of coursework, 1 unit externally assessed examination and a controlled assessment.
What are the costs?
There are no charges to study on any of our courses. However, you will be expected to fund travel to and from any educational visits.
What is the duration?
Two years.
