We had 27 A-level Biology students take part in a very successful trip to the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Essex on 10th March.

Students had the opportunity to learn about gene technology, hydroponics and vertical farming, coral reefs and fish ageing. They carried out practical activities involving microscopy, a fish eye dissection, learnt about molecular techniques and used state-of-the-art equipment to extract, amplify DNA and identify genes. Students also learnt about research in the School of Biological sciences and progression options into various BSc courses for them.

Student feedback was excellent with 100% of students stating they would recommend this trip to their friends.
