Students Attend May Governors Conference
Back
Students from One Sixth Form College and Abbeygate Sixth Form College recently came together with Governors and EEG leaders for the May Governors Conference, focused on strengthening student voice, improving communication, and ensuring feedback leads to meaningful change.
During the event, students took part in roundtable discussions with Governors and Eastern Education Group leaders, exploring how colleges can continue building a culture where students feel heard, valued, and involved in shaping their experience.
The conference explored four key themes:
- From Voice to Impact – improving how feedback is gathered and acted upon.
- Nothing About Us Without Us – ensuring students are involved in decision-making.
- Designing a Culture Where Every Voice Counts – creating more inclusive and visible opportunities for student engagement.
- From Feedback to Partnership – building stronger ongoing dialogue between students, Governors, and college leaders.
Students shared a range of ideas, including clearer “You Said, We Did” communication, greater Governor visibility within college life, more opportunities for face-to-face discussion, and increasing awareness of student leadership opportunities.
The discussions highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and partnership, with students emphasising the value of being listened to and understanding how their feedback contributes to positive change.
The conference reinforced the commitment across Eastern Education Group to ensuring students remain at the heart of college improvement and decision-making.
