A cricket team from One Sixth Form College are travelling to Lords next month to compete in the National Table Cricket Finals Day on 15 May 2026.
(Table cricket is an adapted version of cricket, played on a table tennis table and designed to give young people with a disability the chance to play the sport they love).
The group will be representing East Anglia where they will take on eleven other teams during a tournament held at the home of cricket in London.
This is the third year running that the sixth form will be taking part in this contest.
In previous years they got to meet England stars Reece Topley and David Gower, as well TV personality Matt Lucas from Little Britain fame.
In 2024 they came tenth. Last year they finished sixth. But this year the team are determined to bring the trophy home.
Captain Kia Coulson, 19, from Ipswich is feeling quietly confident. The level 1 sports learner said: “We’ve made progress and to win at the home of cricket would be a dream come true.”
Matt Townrow, 18, from Sudbury is studying on a level 1 media course. Matt said: “To lift the trophy would be like winning the Ashes. We will need teamwork and togetherness.”
Daniel Revell, 18, from Ipswich is on a level 1 sports course. He said: “We will be representing the county.”
Claire Jones is the head of supported learning at One Sixth Form College and she will be travelling with the team. Claire said: “We want to keep improving. Hopefully this will be third time lucky. I’m proud of each and every one of them.”
