Today the youth health champions handed over 30 of the 200 bags that they put together for a clinical commissioning group project aimed at young people using hospital and sexual health services. The youth health champions have been involved from the initial idea for these bags when they were asked to carry out some research into what young people would find beneficial at times when they needed help. The champions then went on to develop their own bags for One students that may struggle with anxiety especially around exam times. The champions continued to work with the clinical commissioning group, discussing and sourcing items for the bags.

Sharon Phillips, Specialist Nurse MASH Health, West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group Ipswich and East Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group said

“The bags for the Grab Bag Project have been provided by the Designate Safeguarding Team from the Clinical Commissioning Group in Suffolk. It was felt that these bags would be a positive resource for the young people of Suffolk following the success of a similar project run by a large London Hospital A/E. The bags will be available to young people aged 12-18 who attend for emergency health care in various settings The contents of the bags cover a range of issues and have been kindly provided by partner agencies. We are very grateful to Sarah Warnes and the Health Champions from One whose help on this project has been invaluable.
