And the awards go to up and coming Hollywood actress from Suffolk

An actress and director from Suffolk has received a clutch of awards and accolades for a film she made about diabetes.

Bethany (Buffy) Milner has had an incredible few years since learning her craft whilst studying performing arts at One.

The 23 year old from Bildeston completed her A-levels before gaining a place at the New York Film Academy in 2014.

She has subsequently graduated with honours from the academy with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting for Film and is now living in Los Angeles.

As part of her university experience, she spent time in Hollywood, meeting the likes of Jonny Depp and the Oscar winning film director, Ron Howard.

She has also met other A-listers including Bryan Cranston, George Clooney and Charlize Theron.

Most recently, Buffy picked up several awards for a film that she wrote, produced and starred in called Type.

In terms of the film and awards, she said, “The film is a coming of age story about the social struggles of a girl recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I am so overjoyed and overwhelmed that it is now doing so well and receiving recognition on this scale.”

“In terms of the future, I have proved that hard work pays off and I will continue to work hard to achieve the career I desire.”

Director of curriculum, Lois Hinsley, said, “We are thrilled for Buffy. She was a talented actress and she is now proving this on an international scale.

“We are passionately committed to performing arts courses and creative careers at One. So whilst Buffy may be the first former student from One to take the film world in America by storm, I’m sure she won’t be the last.”
