Cast of Fame want new show to live forever

A new production of Fame the Musical is about to dance its way into Ipswich.
The three-night run at One Sixth Form College (ONE) starts on Wednesday 18 November and finishes on Friday 20 November 2026.
All performances start at 7pm and tickets range between £10 and £12.00.
The production follows hot on the heels of previous ONE successes that have included A Chorus Line, Rock of Ages, Chicago and SIX.
This show follows the highs and lows of a group of performing arts students as they discover love and life – and is based on a hugely popular 80’s television show (also called Fame).
One of the cast, Lewis McLaughlin, who studies Performing Arts - won a ‘Best Supporting Actor in a Musical’ award from the National Theatre last year for his performance as Gomez in The Addams Family and he is looking forward to treading the boards once again in this show.
The 17-year-old from Ipswich said: “I’m playing Nick – an actor from New York. I think people should come along as we put on a professional show that has something for everyone. We take our college productions seriously and I think people will be surprised by the talent on show.”
Lyra James, 17, from Sudbury is also on the Performing Arts Extended Diploma course. She plays Carmen in the show. She said: “We have put in so much effort and it’s such a great show.”
Charlotte Cheesman, 17, from Felixstowe also studies Performing Arts. She said: “Rehearsals have been full of energy. It’s upbeat and uplifting.”
Kit Widdup, 16, from Woodbridge is in Year 12 studying Performing Arts and has just finished starring in a UK tour of Calendar Girls performing at venues like the New Wolsey. “I came to watch The Addams Family at One last year and everyone was so talented. It made me want to study here.”
