This musical production follows the story of the eccentric Addams Family. Wednesday unexpectedly finds love with Lucas Beineke and Gomez is burdened with a secret, all the while I was left gripping the edge of my seat, wondering if Wednesday would get the normal evening she desperately desired. I experienced a whirlwind of emotions from joy, humour and anticipation.

I found myself fully engrossed in the catchy music and the exceptional vocals delivered by the cast, particularly Wednesday (Lily Brotherton) and Gomez (Lewis Mclaughlin), who also gives a fantastic portrayal of the Addams Family father.

The set was dark and spooky, perfectly complementing the gothic costumes and storyline, and the tech team did amazing work with the sound. The characters truly brought this production to life, quite literally, as we journeyed through the story with ancestors bought back from the dead. This left me feeling immersed in a world where the past and present intertwined.

I caught myself giggling throughout at the macabre humour and was especially amused by the hilarious and grotesque interpretation of Uncle Fester (Eve Fairhurst).

Just when you think that’s it, you’re hit with more. I found myself consumed by the spectacularly choreographed dance scenes and even surprised to see a costume change from Wednesday. I felt completely enthralled by Morticia’s character (Honor Coulson) and her infectious personality, along with the energy that she and Gomez shared.

The entire cast was brilliant in this edition of The Addams Family so don’t miss out on this fun, dark, comedic musical at One Sixth Form College on opening night this… you guessed it, Wednesday. It is a production packed full of love, laughter and betrayal that won’t disappoint and is sure to answer the question: can the Addams and Beineke family come together for one normal night?
