The Guardian's European Sports Correspondent Nick Ames visits One Sixth Form College

Students from the Humanities faculty at OSFC joined Ian Brown, PPT and Nick Ames, European Sports Correspondent for The Guardian for a ‘In Conversation’ event.

Nick Ames talked about his career, his route through education into journalism and how it all started in the early days writing articles for the East Anglian Daily Times on local tennis tournaments.

These days he travels far and wide covering football World Cups and the elite level of European football. The article Nick is most proud of is his work on the renaissance of Ukrainian football following the 2022 invasion. Our students pressed him with some excellent questions that covered ethics, the future of journalism, and the huge impact of social media on modern journalism. Our students left inspired to pursue their own careers.
