What personal qualities do you need to be successful in your current role?

The ability to work as a team and stay calm under pressure are very important as no day is ever the same. More importantly one of the biggest qualities is to be highly organised.

What qualifications do you need for your role?

Aside from a degree and PGCE, experience is a key element to being successful in this role.

What elements of your role do you enjoy most?

Seeing students progress in confidence and guiding them through exams and ultimately to their next venture, be that to university or an apprenticeship.

What's the most challenging aspect of your role?

One of the biggest challenges is the rate of pace of change in education and keeping up-to-date with these.

What's a typical day at work for you?

A typical day starts witha subject meeting in one of the five different courses I manage. After this, I catchup with the emails received and then off to teach the morning’s Accountancy lesson. After eating lunch there is usually a revision workshop session to run, and helping students with any questions or concerns they may have. In the afternoon it may involve either teaching a lesson, a meeting with a PPT to support a student or following up on student issues arising from the momning’s meeting.

What spurs you on to work each day?

As much of a cliché as it sounds, the biggest spur each day is working with dedicated staff in the team and seeing the progress in students achieving their potential.

Do you have any further comments?

One is a fantastic place to work where you can help to shape the future of students in an environment which provides many opportunities for staff development and progression.
