Course Information

Duration2 Years

What does the course involve?

The Sport, Fitness & Personal Training Level 3 Extended Diploma is truly vocational, providing the opportunity to gain the industry standard qualifications required to enter a career in the fitness industry directly upon successful completion. Accredited by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and written in collaboration with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP’s), this course provides learners with the opportunity to gain the knowledge, confidence, inter-personal skills and work experience needed to take their first steps into a career in the fitness industry.

An integral part of this course is the work placement that students will undertake during the course. Working closely with a range of local businesses in the fitness industry, we aim to provide learners with varied experiences of what a career after college will entail. Our industry partners are involved in the course from interview stage all the way through to course completion. Not only will this provide a breadth of experience to students, but it will support them to develop work ready skills and allow learners to build a network of contacts in the fitness industry.

Whilst the key focus of this course is to help students progress into employment, the qualification is equivalent to three A Levels, which attracts sufficient UCAS points to progress into higher education*.

*Please note, it is important to check the individual entry requirements of each university course before applying to university.

How will I be assessed?

All units are assessed internally via coursework. Assessments may involve practical demonstration of skills required to work in the fitness industry as well as written reports, presentations and interview tasks.

A sample of the assessment is standards verified each year. Industry experts will inform assessment in some of the units, making sure many of the assessments focus on the competence necessary to work in the fitness industry.

What is the cost?

There is no cost to study this course, however, all students will be expected to wear clothing and footwear a personal trainer would be expected to wear in industry, which consists of a college branded tracksuit and polo shirt. Costs will depend upon the number of garments that are required by each learner and the items will be available for purchase from enrolment.
