As a College we are committed to offering all our students a high level of careers education, guidance and advice to enable them to make discerning decisions about their future. In addition, we also offer assistance to parents, carers and guardians who are supporting their young person at this critical time. Indeed, in a recent Youthsight poll1 71 per cent of students said they would consult their parents and carers when making a decision about their future.
Parental Support Events
College Open Events for Prospective Students – Our Careers team are available to offer advice regarding potential career paths and appropriate subject options.
Work Experience Evening – an introduction to work experience – benefits and practicalities for students and their parents.
Introduction to post year 13 options – for Year 12 students and their parents. An introduction to HE, Apprenticeships, Higher Apprenticeships and employment.
Progression Fair evening– for current and prospective students and their parents. Over 75 universities along with apprenticeship providers, local employers and GAP year specialists.
Introduction to HE and Apprenticeship Finance evening – For year 13 students and their parents. A chance to understand the university funding process and apprenticeship information.
Student Finance England Parents Event – A practical workshop for year 13 parents on how to apply for student finance.
Next steps event – For year 13 and their parents. This invitation only event is for those students who have still not decided on a progression route in June and offers an opportunity to learn about local FE/HE options along with enabling provision offered by alternative providers.
Parent consultation evenings – PPT team are available to meet with parents and offer guidance regrading progression.
