The Debating Society at Suffolk One is a place where you can involve yourself in debates of key issues or controversial topics that affect us directly or indirectly today. Everyone is welcome to come along; even if you don't necessarily want to debate but just want to hear what others have to say. We would like a diverse range of students to offer their different perspectives on the topic thus creating a better debate. You don't have to have been before just come along every Friday in room Y003 to join in on the debate. Topics are emailed out to you every week and it is not mandatory for you to turn up if you do not like the topic. We hope to see you there!
"In my opinion the Debating Society is an enjoyable and informative place. There is a variety of backgrounds which allow for multiple perspectives of the topic; often these views, particularly on controversial debates creates a very entertaining environment. Being a student and part of the 'executive' means that the Debate Society is a student run society which allows the students to decide what to debate. With help and support from the teaches and watching others debate has really improved my overall public speaking ability and I feel more comfortable expressing my point of view and confident to deliver it to a group of people."
