Staff and students at a One tried their hand at speaking French, Italian, Lithuanian, Portuguese and Romanian during a campaign called The European Day of Languages.

The idea of the day – that started in 2001 – is to 'promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe' and it is a campaign that is jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the European Union.

The short talks were all presented by students from One.

Michelle Prazzino is an A-level student. She said, "I taught people a few basic Italian phrases. It was great to see people from across the college get involved."

French teacher from One Sixth Form College, Claire Robinson, helped organise activities. She said,

"I think being able to speak a different language is something that you should be proud of and I think it is something that should be celebrated."
