One Sixth Form College has been named as the best college in the country during a national awards ceremony.

One was crowned the 'BTEC College of the Year 2018' during the BTEC Awards 2018 that were held at Westminster Hall in London on Thursday 5 July 2018.

The occasion was organised by Pearson – an organisation that creates qualifications for schools and colleges in the UK and abroad.

They set up the awards to recognise and reward students, teachers, schools and colleges for their exceptional achievements in vocational learning.

Staff from the sixth form – who gained an outstanding Ofsted grade in May 2015 – put themselves forward for this award earlier in the year.

Judges then independently chose the Ipswich based sixth form as the winner in this category.

Director of curriculum quality and management information systems at One Sixth Form College, Rob Bamford, said,  "This award is something that can be shared with every student that has and is studying here - and every member of staff who work for us. They consistently go the extra mile to make One Sixth Form College an outstanding learning environment.

Deputy Principal of One Sixth Form College, Jenny Milsom, said, "To get recognition on this scale from one of the largest qualification awarding organisations in the world is exceptional and we are very proud of all our students and staff who have contributed to this success, We will continue the work we do to ensure that every student who studies with us has the very best possible chance of future success.'
