Superstructures firm builds in more degree apprentices places with One Sixth Form College

Building on its strong relationship with One Sixth Form College, Ipswich-based Superstructures has taken on another two of its students as degree apprentices.

After completing their BTEC in Engineering at One, David Williams and Jake Lay-Flurrie started at Superstructures this month as apprentice structural engineers. They will be working alongside the   14-strong team helping to provide structural engineering and design services throughout East Anglia.

David and Jake join fellow apprentices and ex-One students Lee Allender, who was appointed in 2020, and Liam Swann, who joined the business in 2019. As part of their apprenticeship, they are all studying for their degrees at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.

David Williams is settling into a work environment and is happy to be working at Superstructures. He said.

“The course I completed at One prepared me for this apprenticeship. Working towards my degree in this way is excellent - as all the costs are paid for by the business, and at the same time as studying, I am gaining real life work experience.”

Jake Lay-Flurrie agrees with David and added.

“Since starting the job, I have learnt a lot more than I thought I would. My teachers were very supportive and if I hadn’t done this particular course at One, I don’t think I would have been able to take advantage of the opportunity with Superstructures.”
