At the start of June Year 12 and 13 BTEC Performing Arts students took part in their end of year showcase - ‘West End To One’. The students performed over two nights to large audiences with some amazing performances from both groups. The Performing Arts students were also supported by a ‘pit band’ made up of students studying music performance at the college.
Particular highlights from both evenings included ensemble numbers from various shows including ‘Rhythm of Life’ from Sweet Charity, ‘Take Me To Heaven’ and ‘Sunday Morning Fever’ from Sister Act, Footloose as well as a selection of smaller group numbers from Chicago including ‘Cell Block Tango’ performed by five of the Year 13 ladies, as well as solos of ‘When You’re Good to Mama’ and ‘All That Jazz’ performed brilliantly by Sian Williams and Hannah Cocks in Year 12. The audience also saw musical numbers from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Wicked, Hairspray and We Will Rock You. Both evenings culminated in a finale with both year groups performing ‘America’ from West Side Story. Well done to everyone that took part in the show!
