Students and Staff from One took a trip to Uganda during the February half term holiday to visit the Beans Means Brains Lunch Project at Buhumba Primary School in South West Uganda. It was a life changing experience for all, we all took part in several activities whilst at the school including lunch, lessons, meeting the local community, sitting with parents during an annual meeting at the local church and took part in a volley ball game, England v Uganda. We did do very well but they are very competitive when it comes to sport and we unfortunately lost both games!
Before travelling to Uganda students and staff from One held fund raising events to enable us to buy some exercise and text books to give to the students. We also collected together pens and pencils to hand out at least one to each of the 750 students and also managed to take out with us 20 balls.
