Two A Level Accounting students have secured prestigious places on a summer internship with KPMG in London. KPMG is one of the top Chartered Accounting firms in the world with its main UK office in Canary Wharf in London.
Sasha Ghobadi and Amber Jeffs have secured a place in the Canary Wharf office undertaking careers mentoring, work shadowing different areas of the firm and visiting clients on an audit. The summer internship involves a gruelling application process and subsequent interviews and psychometric tests. With over 300 applications to the programme from across the UK, it is a great achievement to be selected for this esteemed programme for one of the few places available.
One worked closely with KPMG to help students find out more about potential careers in Accounting and to provide a network for students to gain information, apply for work placements and internships. Helen Jones of KPMG Ipswich office has worked with Accounting, Economics and Business Studies A Level students here at One who are interested in a career as a future Accountant.
Apprenticeships in Accounting are fast becoming more popular with the emphasis on gaining practical skills whilst at the same time studying for the professional AAT Accounting exams. KPMG is at the forefront of the School Leaver AAT programme where a student can work, studying for their AAT exams, leading onto a paid Accounting degree at either Birmingham, Exeter or Durham University.
