Over the summer our recording studio has undergone a complete redesign and upgrade. We are proud to be one of the first colleges in the country to feature a Slate Digital Raven MTi Touchscreen control desk, which allows our students to get truly hands-on with their mixes!
In the control room the benching has been removed and a studio desk with equipment rack has been installed. The studio also features a new microphone locker, sofas and new chairs to make the environment as comfortable and inspiring as possible.
The refurbishment will allow students to record using either or both of the two live rooms either side of the control room, allowing them to track multiple instruments in different rooms at the same time into Logic Pro X.
The studio features 16 channels of high quality preamps including the Focusrite ISA 430 MKII, which features the same design as found in Focusrite’s legendary Forté Consoles. There is high quality conversion from an RME interface and monitoring from Adam Audio, who use ribbon drivers in their speakers for more accurate top-end.
All of the hardware for the upgrade was provided by Kazbar Systems and the microphone locker was recently upgraded with new microphones from Sontronics, who are an Education Partner with One and provide discounts on all of their products to our students.
The studio now lives up to the potential of the space and gives students a truly professional environment in which to learn how to record and produce music.
