One has announced proposed changes to its organisation to counteract a £2m budget shortfall.
Principal, Alan Whittaker, said, “Regrettably the financial position requires the college to make savings to be ready for the next academic year (starting in September 2015).”
“We have looked at every possible avenue to avoid this situation, however owing to a number of factors; we are having to embark on an extremely challenging part of our development which will necessitate significant financial savings.”
“Our plan for change has been put together in a way which continues to put students first and prioritise high levels of achievement. Our focus as always is on supporting students and staff and seeking ways of minimising the impact of this need for change. We also would like to reassure our students, their parents and guardians that studies will not be adversely affected by this situation.”
One is a high performing college where students thrive and flourish. Our students’ achievement rates are outstanding and rated, externally, as in the top 5% nationally. Alan continued “We are in a very strong position, we’ve got a high quality team and we know that the ethos and the teamwork will see us through. As always the focus of our work is excellent outcomes for students- that will not change.”
