One cheerleading squad travelled to Trafalgar Square in London where they were filmed for one of the nation's biggest TV shows. Their performance will be shown in a future edition of Britain's Got Talent in the spring.
They met up with several acts amidst the shadow of Nelson's column and also managed to grab a few words with TV favourites, Ant and Dec.
Cathy Graham is the coach of the group. She said, "It was great to be involved in the filming of this. What an amazing experience. From small acorns we have grown in the last two years where we have been involved in competitions, performed at Portman Road and now this. I'm very proud of everyone."
Although the troupe are yet to find out if they will be in the auditions phase of the show, this will hopefully put the group (known as Ballistics) on the map.
19 year old Katie Chamberlain is studying A-levels. She said, "This is a fantastic opportunity as we get to be on the opening of the show. Personally I got into this as one of my friends suggested it to me. I love it. The whole group is like a family."
In terms of seeing herself on national television. She added, "I can't quite get my head around it at the moment. I've never been on TV before. All in all it's been a great experience."
17 year old Rhianna Kiwomya from Colchester, said, "I got into this through our coach Cathy. I was quite shy at first but being in the group has brought out my confidence. It's such a laugh and feels great that we are going to be on TV – it will be exciting to see how it all comes together. "
Deputy Principal of One, Jenny Milsom, said, "We constantly encourage our students to get the most out of their time at One by getting involved in lunchtime and after school activities. The cheerleading squad have made amazing strides forward thanks to their great coach Cathy and we are all looking forward to watching the show when it airs later in the year."
