Movac approached local colleges to offer students the chance to design and create fashion fit for a catwalk, with only one condition – they needed to be made entirely out of wood! This incredible opportunity allowed our students to develop their portfolio with a live brief and their designs were seen by hundreds of people at the exhibition.
Mark Smith, Managing Director of Movac Group Ltd said “involving the work of students at this level is hugely important, as we are bringing the next generation of designers and technicians into the actual manufacturing process. We want to make a difference – not only to our customers with our innovative products and services – but to the industry as a whole and our communities.”
Harry Lymer said “This is a great opportunity working with a local company. It has enabled me to develop my design skills and understand the process of a real life brief and working with a client. I have enjoyed the process of being able to visit one of the Movac workshops and seeing my creations evolve. I am impressed with the quality of the paint finishes which really showcased my pop art design. I have been able to include this project in my professional coursework portfolio”.
