On Friday 20th November Year 12 and 13 Music Technology students travelled down to London to visit the Music Production Expo held at the Emirates Stadium in London. The Music Production Expo is where a host of industry experts showcase the latest music technology equipment and software and present seminars on the latest developments in music technology. Students had the opportunity to speak to experts, try out the latest equipment and listen to seminars on careers in the music industry.
After a trip to Denmark Street – the ‘Tin Pan Alley of London’ to look at music shops, students then journeyed across London to visit The Science Museum and look at the space exhibition. Year 13 music technologists are currently working on a composition based on space and were hoping to gain some inspiration. In the evening, students were able to watch a performance at The Barbican Centre as part of the London Jazz Festival. We were fortunate enough to see Jacob Collier – an up and coming jazz musician and YouTube star, and Terence Blanchard – international jazz trumpeter extraordinaire.
Music Technology students are looking forward to visiting UCS on Monday 7th December to take part in a series of workshops using Pro Tools and gaining a taste of what a university music production course is like.
Finally, we have two events in the run up to Christmas. The BTEC Performing Arts Showcase at 6pm on Friday 4th December and Winter Concert on Thursday 17th December in the performance space. Tickets are available for both events from the One College Shop.
