Our photography students discovered the great exhibitions within the Tate Modern and Somerset House before beginning their night shoot in London on Wednesday 21st November. The Tate Modern gave the students a great opportunity to observe the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day as well as international modern and contemporary art. Followed by a visit to Somerset House to explore Tim Walker’s fantastic fashion photography. Walker is one of the most visually exciting and influential fashion photographer, his work is extravagant in scale and was instantly recognisable to the students because of his originality. The rain stopped as the group left Somerset House to begin shooting photos by night. Gordon Hawes, Photography Teacher said “We all enjoyed experimenting with slow shutter light trail photos using the city lights and our own lights, we managed to get some great shots”.
