On Wednesday 30th April, the Year 12 Hotel Management students visited Hotelympia. The exhibition is a show case for the Hotel industry with trade stands, demonstrations and events. Exhibitors included everything from chopping boards & bathrobes, to ice cream machines and cocktails. The students had opportunities to speak to universities and apprenticeship providers about future careers in the Hotel industry. They also watched as chefs competed to produce world class desserts – which is a Unit that they study in their BTEC course.
The food and drink section of the exhibition proved a mouth-watering part of the day with tastings of everything from bread, roast pork and cracking to the most delicious buffalo milk ice cream. Students were also able to enter competitions throughout the day, and many came home with full bags of prizes and gifts. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and gave the students an insight into all aspects of the Hotel industry, a trip that can be remembered for more than just the talking robot!
