Following our successful project working with the local primary schools, One welcomed students from Hadleigh High and East Bergholt High schools for a morning in the e-Learning Zone, to take part in our digital literacy project, ‘From Fireside to Kindle Fire and Beyond.’
Students were given the opportunity to explore a range of digital story book apps, using iPads and tablets, as well using an augmented reality app. They used and evaluated the wide range of e-reader devices available for use at One, as well as spending time looking at the value of traditional story books. There was a real discussion centred on the advantages and disadvantages of the various devices from the students.
Finally to end the session, students were given a guided tour of the building, seeing the range of facilities available and spoke to staff about what they may like to study in the future at One.
Feedback from both schools about the project was superb and we look forward to welcoming students from both schools back to One again in the future.
