We competed in the regional round of the Debating Matters Competition at King Edward VI School, Bury St Edmunds last Tuesday. The evening saw an exceptional level of debating and public elocution on an array of complex issues.
It was a thoroughly engaging and academically stimulating event and would like to say a well-deserved congratulations and much thanks to the team from One:
- Aidan Monteith
- Cam Casey
- Sam Betts-Davies
- Tim Moxham
The first pairing saw off a determined challenge from Colchester County High School, comprehensively and convincingly stating the claim that "the institution of the library is still much valued and needed in modern society".
The final round saw our second pairing up against a strong Northgate High School duo and, despite a convincing and highly emotive attack on "three-parent IVF" the clinical and scientific rational of the proposition won through.
