On Wednesday 16th March at 7pm, we have our Dance Showcase Evening, which is a culmination of practical performance work undertaken by the Year 12 and Year 13 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts students and Year 12 and 13 BTEC Dance Subsidiary Dance Students. Students have been working on a variety of Dance styles, exploring a range of performance devices and the Compositional process to create a selection of different performance pieces for you to enjoy!
The Year 12 and Year 13 BTEC Performing Arts students are showcasing the work that they have completed this term. Year 12 Performing Arts students have been taking part in a series of ‘Contemporary Dance Technique’ lessons.
Year 13 Performing Arts students have been working on 2 units this term, Jazz Dance, where students have explored the different styles of Jazz, performance skills and stylistic qualities needed to create a performance piece. Unit 5 Rehearsing for a Performance, where students have created a musical inspired piece.
The Year 13 BTEC Dance Students have been working on Unit 47 Jazz Dance – looking at different jazz styles culminating in a Madonna inspired piece, and Unit 7 Performing to an Audience, performing a piece looking at telling a story about love!
Year 12 BTEC Dance Students have been working on two pieces of Dance Performance, creating two contrasting pieces, one in the style of Bollywood, the other a contemporary performance piece.
