There seems to have been some confusion around the Park and Ride arrangement we have at the Copdock Tesco facility.
Since our last correspondence SCC have revised their charging arrangements and costs for using the Park and Ride. Basically they changed it from a per car charge to an individual cost.
However, SCC have agreed to maintain the original charging arrangements for Suffolk One students using our Smartcard arrangement and have also reduced the charge down to £22.50 (£2.50 per day) for 10 return trips. This means that for a car with 4 students each will pay less than 60p per day. It’s important to remember that students must use the bus service at the designated times to travel to One and not walk.
To qualify for the Smartcard arrangement students must complete an ‘Application for P&R Smartcard’, discuss this with their PPT who will need to endorse it. Then the PPT will complete and sign a ‘Contract for Smartcard Allocation’, this is then handed into the kiosk at the P&R facility. Further information about the scheme can be found at www.suffolkone.ac.uk/student-life/travelling-campus/.
We have been advised by SCC that this P&R arrangement will be in place until the end of October 2013 when they will be renegotiating it with the bus companies. After this time they will not be in a position to guarantee the continuation of the current discount scheme. However, we will continue to try and negotiate students secure parking at this facility while securing the best possible deal.
