Health & Safety
We take the safety of all students and staff very seriously at One.
You should make every effort to act safely and not endanger yourself or others while on college site, or when engaged in activities off site but still connected with the college.
Use the safety features of the building with respect; they are in place to safeguard you and those around you.
Staff instructions should be followed to ensure your health, safety and welfare is maintained at all times.
It is a vital element of our Safety Policy that all student carry their I.D cards at all times whilst on the premises.
Gaining access to the building, or giving another access using your card will lead to disciplinary action.
If you forget your ID card, please report to reception on arrival where you will be issued with a day pass.
Your ID card gives you access to the building (8am-4.30pm), is your cashless payment card and allows you to print any documents you need.
To enter the building through the gates, you need to scan your card over the black dot, wait for the light to go green and then walk through.
Please speak to the reception if you have any issues or queries with your I.D card.
For non-emergency first aid incidences, please go to Student Services where a trained a triage First Aider will help you.
If you are involved in or come across an emergency First Aid incident, please alert a member of staff, or send someone to find help..
If you witness, or are involved in an incident or accident, please inform your PPT as soon as possible.
Every Wednesday at 4.30pm the Fire Alarm is tested. If you hear the alarm at any other time you must make your way to the nearest exit and gather at the Fire Assembly Point in the coach park.
The Lift must not be used in an evacuation.
If you are unable to use the stairs then you should go to a Refuge Point located in the stairwells, press the communication panel and await further instructions. You should speak with your PPT to make them aware of any change in your abilities to evacuate.
Our Fire Marshall team will then check the building is empty and we will re-enter the building when it is deemed safe to do so by staff.
If you come across a fire, please activate the nearest Red Fire Alarm Break Glass Point.
Throughout your time at One we will practice further drills and alarm tests. In the extremely unlikely event of an attack, we operate the 'Run, Hide, Tell' initiative.
We operate a cashless system at One. Payment for food and drink will be made using your ID card once you have either top up your account online or use a cashloader in the turquoise zone.
Contactless card payment is available at the coffee shop.
We operate a self clear system in Café One, therefore you are responsible for clearing away all litter, crockery and cutlery when you have finished with it.
Student parking is not permitted on site. We have arranged with the 'Park & Ride' a discounted rate for One students should you wish to use this service.
Unauthorised parking is likely to result in a parking fine, issued by an independent parking regulation company.
If you wish to pay for trips, events, resources or additional printing credits by cash, cheque or card, please go the Finance office, located on the first floor in Green Zone, 9am- 1.15pm.

I.T & eLearning
Emails are the primary method of communication at One, therefore it is important that you check them daily.
We recommend that you connect your college email account to your Smartphone, if you have one. This way you will not miss any important news, events, invites or information.
You will be able to access this once you have received your Username and Password on your first day at college. You will need to logon and change your password onsite, after which you can access content offsite.
One's online learning platform is Moodle. Moodle will contain information and useful documents relating to your courses. Your teacher will upload content throughout your time at One, so it is important to visit regularly.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
You can use your own laptop, tablet or phone at One to access the Internet and some college resources.
Please just look for the 'BYOD – One' Wifi access and use your username and password to connect.
There are secure charging lockers outside Student Services for you to charge your devices. In each locker is a standard plug and a USB socket so you can charge two devices at once. It's free to use!
Other Electrical sockets should not be used for your personal equipment.
