Expectations & Processes
We have high expectations of all of the community at One, as part of enrolment you signed and agreed to abide by our Code of Conduct.
Our expectations are that you:
- Abide by the code of conduct (link)
- Attend all lessons, tutorials & 1 to 1s
- Take care of your environment: Litter must be put in the bin, there is no Smoking/ Vaping on site
- Check email and calendar daily for fresh and important information
We expect all student to attend all lesson & Tutorials, if you are going to absent for any reason we expect to receive notification of this via the absence line: 01473 556610 stating the students name, the PPT and reason for absence. Any prolonged absence will require a Doctors note.
Students who fall below our minimum attendance benchmark of 90% will be subject to the actions outlined below. What happens if you do not meet the expectations?
At One we operate in 'work place' environment, this means we do not have detentions but we tackle disciplinary issues in the following manner:
- Targets will be set to get you back on track
- Verbal Warning
- Written Warning
- Final Written
Depending on the severity of the incident, a student can be escalated to any point on the disciplinary scale without lower level action being taken.

Every student at One has a Personal Progress Tutor (PPT). They are your main point of contact at the college and will be the person who contacts you and/or your parents/ guardians when necessary.
The main responsibility of your PPT is to:
- Monitoring attendance (90% minimum) and behaviour.
- Liaise with parents and outside agencies to support you to achieve your best whilst at One.
- Deliver the tutorial programme.
- Conduct 1 to 1 interviews with each student that focus on academic attainment and progression (invitation through emails and calendar)
- Taking a holistic overview within the reporting cycle.
- Support and guide you through your post college progression opportunities, e.g. University, Apprenticeship, Employment
The PPT team are based in Student Service, where you can drop in and ask any questions that you may have. If your PPT is not available, then there is 'Duty PPT' who will be willing to help.
Careers at One
Located in the Purple Zone (ground Floor) is Gaynor Marsh, our Careers advisor. You are able to go there at any time for information, advice and guidance on anything relating to your progression after One.
You can request a 1 to 1 interview at any point, if you require some more specific advice or help.

There is a dedicated area on Moodle (our eLearning platform) with information and quizzes that are a good starting point.
You will also be emailed with information about various key dates and opportunities relating to Careers and Higher Education events throughout the year.
The Learning Resource Centre has a range of course materials and equipment that can help you during your time at One.
All resources are issued using your Student ID card, it is therefore important that you take care of any and all equipment as you are held responsible for it.
We are keen that you take up the opportunity to get involved in a variety of activities at One. Not only will this add to your enjoyment of your time at One but it will also bolster your CV and personal statement when it is time to leave us.
One of the main opportunities to see all the One has to offer is at the Freshers Fair on 13th September 2019. Here you will have time to see the various Sports, Music, Performance, Gaming, Creative groups and clubs (and more) that we have to offer.
This is also an opportunity to get involved as Student Reps. We like to get feedback from our students on what things could be improved at One and the Reps are a brilliant way to have your say. It will also give you key skills that will be invaluable when you move on to university or employment.
