Diploma Level 3 - RSL Level 3 Diploma in Acting

WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?
This course is a vocational course. This means it is a practical, work-related course. Learners will follow the Acting pathway. There are seven units and two of them are compulsory core units.

You will apply a range of skills, knowledge and understanding in preparation for employment/ further study. Units provide learners with knowledge and understanding of advanced concepts such as the style and context of performance genres, audition techniques, planning, repertoire, rehearsal schedules, the nature of performance, collaborating with others, health and safety, technical requirements and reviewing/analysis of performances.
WHAT DO I NEED TO JOIN THE COURSE?
A Merit in a BTEC Performing Arts subject (Music, Dance, Drama) or a 4 in GCSE Drama.
CAN I TAKE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS?
This qualification can be taken alongside a combination of A Levels and/or Extended Certificates. You can discuss the suitable subject combinations at interview.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is designed, on the whole, as a practical course and most of the marks are awarded based on the work done in workshops, and during performances. There are two core units which are based on a brief set by the exam board, but the others are based upon rehearsals and a final performance. There are written elements to the course that provide evidence of work: these may include a workshop diary, reviews, evaluations and personal portfolios.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
There are no costs to study on any of our courses. Students should budget for trips to performances and concerts in order to gain maximum benefit from all of the Performing Arts courses. These will take place periodically throughout the year at a cost of approximately £15 - £20 per trip.
