A Level - Accounting

WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?
In an age of global business, financial competency is of great importance. This course should appeal to students who enjoy working with numerical data, take pleasure in problem solving and have an interest in Business and Finance or Accounting. You will be able you to analyse, interpret and evaluate accounting information and apply to a range of accounting problems.
There are four units that introduce and develop financial and management accounting. In these units you will:
- learn the fundamentals of record-keeping and the purposes, techniques and consequences of effective financial accounting.
- consider how financial accounting helps in the measuring, monitoring and planning of successful business operations.
- study business ownership, control, profitability, performance and budgeting.

WHAT DO I NEED TO JOIN THE COURSE?
Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics, grade 4 in GCSE English and a grade 5 in one other predominantly written based subject such as History, Geography or Sociology.
CAN I TAKE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS?
If you choose to study Accounting, you will usually take it alongside two other A levels.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
100% written examination. You will sit two exams at the end of the second year.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
There are no charges to study on the course, however non-compulsory trips run as part of the course may incur a cost.
